Hello!
My name is Jessie and I am the queer green witch behind 'Jessie's Potions'. I am a decendent of British and Scottish settlers, currently living on Bowen Island (a short ferry ride from Vancouver, B.C.) the unceded lands of the traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
With an interest in connecting to my ancestral heritage, and cultivating relationship with elemental energies, I found my path practicing Celtic Pagan traditions since the mid-nineties - which eventually guided me to study plant medicine and magick. Since 2015, I have been making balms, tinctures, skin care, decoctions, and many infusions for myself and trusting friends, seeing first hand how these healing herbs worked.
In January 2019, I received a diploma as a Chartered Herbalist through Dominion Herbal College. As of April 2020, I enrolled to continue my herbal studies in the Community Herbalist program with Pacific Rim College.
When I make 'potions' (I use this word as a broad term of the creations I make), I also incorporate an element of witchcraft. I do this by strategically working with the phases of the moon when planting, harvesting and transforming the alchemical state of the plants I work with. I also invoke planetary magick, the elements, 5 directions, and use crystals and minerals in ritual during the potion making process.
All of these factors, alongside the science, magick and history that these herbal allies hold, uniquely contribute to enhancing the desired healing outcome of the potion I am working on. Through this Earth medicine, it’s exciting to feel the effects of how herbs have healed for thousands of years.
Alongside my love for making potions, I'm also a bass player, a photographer and I manage a tattoo studio in Vancouver.
Thanks for reading, I look forward to connecting with you through the aether, virtually, in real life, or through plant spirit.
Blessed be.
